Imago dei or 'the image of God' is "the Christian comprehension of people as made in the image of God offers poise and respect on each individual, paying little heed to social, mental or physical status" (Shelly and Miller, 2006). It is a philosophical term that applies just to people and has its foundations in the scriptural book of Genesis.
