Answer:

It could carry more weight

Explanation:

The horse made a much better work animal than the dog because it could carry more weight than a dog. just by the fact it's so much bigger, so much stronger. It's strength was definitely the major reason why it was preferred to the dog, but the horse also adapts easily to its environment. Even if a horse eats more than a dog, because of its size, the benefits of using it for work are much bigger.

It's also much more calm and docile than most dogs, although some dog races are quite good at training and being used as assistance animal for the handicapped or blind people.

9. What led to conflict in the Congo Free State?
Tasya [4]

Answer:

Africans were forced into brutal labor by Belgian rulers to collect rubber, leading to millions of deaths

Explanation:

Under the rule of Belgium, with King Leopold II as its head, the Congo Free State, roughly on the territory of modern day DR Congo, had suffered immensely. Initially, the colony was not barely sustainable, always being on the verge of bankruptcy, but that all changed with the sudden big demand fro rubber. The Congo Basin had loads of it, and the Belgians intended to use that to make profit. The native population was quickly mobilized and was forced to brutal labor force, being constantly tortured, mutilated, beaten up, given only so much food so that they can barely survive to work the next day. This, combined with other factors, led to lot of deaths, the numbers vary anywhere from one to fifteen million deaths. Understandably, the native people rebelled against this, and it turned out to be a long and bloody conflict, where the end result was just more deaths.

You are a traditional linguist. Where do you think the first proto-Indo-European speakers lived? Along the Mediterranean coast.
Ratling [72]

Answer:

Near the Black Sea

Explanation:

It is hypothesized that the proto-Indo-Europeans were a group of people who lived in the steppes of present-day Ukraine, this hypothesis is derived from the linguistic reconstruction of Indo-European languages that are languages that comprise the majority of current languages in Europe and some Iranian and Hindi languages, as well as others.

From this place these people expanded through Europe and part of Asia, this hypothesis is supported by some archaeological and genetic findings in populations present in the territories where languages derived from the proto-Indo European are spoken.

Which situation best illustrates an effect of the law of supply?
Vitek1552 [10]

Answer:

A. A store stocks more phones when it learns that their selling price has gone up.

Explanation:

The law of supply states that if there is an increase in the price of a commodity or good, then the supply or quantity also increases. In simple terms, it means that the price of a good is directly related to the quantity supplied.

Taking the above statement into consideration, the best illustration of this law of supply is when the stocks of phones are increased by a store when their selling prices increased. This follows the law of supply by the increase in stock after the selling price increases. So, when the price increases, the quantity of phones also increases.

Thus, the correct answer is option A.

How can different perspectives on an issue divided a nation? Do different perspectives on certain issue nation today/ cause conf
dangina [55]

Explanation:

The United States is caught in a partisan hyperconflict that divides politicians, communities—and even families. Politicians from the president to state and local office-holders play to strongly-held beliefs and sometimes even pour fuel on the resulting inferno. This polarization has become so intense that many people no longer trust anyone from a differing perspective.

Drawing on his personal story of growing up as a fundamentalist Christian on a dairy farm in rural Ohio, then as an academic in the heart of the liberal East Coast establishment, Darrell West analyzes the economic, cultural, and political aspects of polarization. He takes advantage of his experiences inside both conservative and liberal camps to explain the views of each side and offer insights into why each is angry with the other.

West argues that societal tensions have metastasized into a dangerous tribalism that seriously threatens U.S. democracy. Unless people can bridge these divisions and forge a new path forward, it will be impossible to work together, maintain a functioning democracy, and solve the country’s pressing policy problems
