The degree of polarity of diatomic molecules is directly related to the difference in _____.

Chemistry

Explanation:

A molecule which have two atoms attached to it is known as a diatomic element.

For example, N_{2} is a diatomic molecule because it has two nitrogen atoms attached to it.

HCl is also a diatomic molecule and the bond between this molecule is formed by sharing of electrons. Thus, it as a covalent bond. Also, chlorine is more electronegative than hydrogen atom. So, Chlorine will attract an electron from hydrogen more towards itself in order to complete its octet.

Thus, there will be formation of partial negative charge on chlorine and partial positive charge on hydrogen atom. Therefore, HCl molecule is polar in nature.

Hence, we can conclude that the degree of polarity of diatomic molecules is directly related to the difference in electronegativity.

The degree of polarity of diatomic molecule is related to the difference of electronegativity of the two atoms. If the difference is very large, i.e. one atom is highly electronegative and the other atom is highly electropostive then, the covalent bond is formed. But if the difference between the electronegativities is very less, then its likely that ionic bond is formed.

Why are dark matter and dark energy described as "dark"? A. Because they emit blackbody radiation. B. Because they absorb light.
VMariaS [17]

Answer:

D. Because we cannot easily detect them.

Explanation:

Dark matter are called dark because using existing astronomical instruments we are blinded to them. Dark matter and dark energy are difficult to detect and properly observe. As we know that the whole universe is made up of matter, some of the matter do not interact with the electromagnetic radiations which makes undetectable.

What is the difference between a heterogenous and a homogenous mixture?
Brrunno [24]
Answer:

There are two types of mixtures: heterogeneous and homogeneous. Heterogeneous mixtures have visually distinguishable components, while homogeneous mixtures appear uniform throughout. The most common type of homogenous mixture is a solution, which can be a solid, liquid, or gas.

two objects each have a mass of 5.0 g. one had a density of 2.7 g. and the other has a density of 8.4 g. which object has a larg
gulaghasi [49]

Answer:

The body with 2.7 \frac{g}{(cm^3)} has a larger volume

Explanation:

There is a missespelling in the question. The units of density cannot be g, they usually are \frac{g}{(cm^3)}

In order to answer this question, we need to use the formula of the density of a body:

Density = \frac{Mass}{Volume} = \frac{M}{V}

For body A:

Mass (M) = 5.0 g

Density (D) = 2.7 \frac{g}{(cm^3)}

2.7 \frac{g}{(cm^3)} = 5g * 1/V

V1 = 5g / (2.7 \frac{g}{(cm^3)})

V1 = 1.85 1.85 cm^3

For Body B:

Mass (M) = 5.0 g

Density (D) = 8.4 \frac{g}{(cm^3)}

8.4 \frac{g}{(cm^3)} = 5g * 1/V

V2 = 5g / (8.4 \frac{g}{(cm^3)})

V2 = 0.59 1.85 cm^3

So V1 is bigger than V2
