The Roosevelt Corollary noted that European nations would not be allowed to interfere in the financial affairs of Latin American nations. In 1905, Roosevelt signed an Executive Order that would allow the US to collect on the debts of the Dominican Republic. The Senate felt that this was a usurpation of their authority to collect duties and taxes, and thereby pressed the administration to re-work the agreement, which was then released in 1905 in such form, but failed to receive the 2/3 vote necessary for ratification. After Roosevelt used the doctrine of modus vivendi to collect the duties, an acceptable treaty was drafted and ratified in early 1907.

emmasim [6.3K]
The correct answer is reverse discrimination.

The affirmative action policies of the 1970s were implemented as a means to help African-American citizens in American society. These policies would help them in several different aspects, including the job market and when applying to colleges. Many American citizens did not like these policies, as they felt that they were being discriminated against and given less opportunity because they were white.

Which circumstances were a major cause of Russian weakness in the mid-1800s? Select all the correct answers. autocratic rule sho
Effectus [21]

Autocratic rule, serfdom and defeat in the Crimean War circumstances were a major cause of Russian weakness in the mid-1800s.

Answer: Option A, D and F

Explanation:

Russia and most of Europe were in a state of animosity when Alexander I took the throne in March 1801. Russia appeared as the largest land force in Europe, and the first of the European victors over Napoleon. In such initiatives the enormous prestige gained was retained until the mid-century.

However, the Crimean War between 1853–56 showed this giant had clay feet. Under very mediocre rule, the massive empire was unable to raise, arm and bring enough troops to overpower the medium-sized French and English powers. Nicholas suffered in the bitter awareness of failure at large.
