The meaning behind "Mother is Supreme" is a man belongs to his fatherland and stays there when life is good, but he seeks refuge in his motherland when life is bitter and harsh.

The Igbo gods are mostly manifestations of nature and its elements, which makes sense because they are an agricultural society that depends on the regularity of seasons and natural phenomena to survive. They worship the goddess of the earth and are always careful to avoid committing sins against her for fear of vengeance that might wipe out an entire generation. The Igbo ancestors also take on a divine nature to some extent. Family plays such a central role in Igbo life that the spirits of their ancestors are consulted for almost every decision and even serve as judges in legal trials (in the form of masked elders). The Igbo emphasis on numerous gods associated with nature and also on ancestors and somewhat divine contrasts sharply with the single God of Christianity which seems far less directly relevant to the Igbo lifestyle.

Answer:

In the story "Things Fall Apart," we are able to gain some insight into traditional Igbo culture. One of the things that is immediately obvious about this people is the fact that they greatly value family and kinship. In fact, bonds by kinship are some of the strongest bonds that Igbo people can have. The way they relate to their land is also seen in terms of kinship. The Igbo see land as a mother. She protects the people and provides for them. They also believe that "Mother is Supreme," and this extends to land as as mother.  This bonds of kinship highlight the importance of staying in one's motherland, and honouring it as one would honour a mother.

How does the narrator’s point of view influence how the events are described in the passage?
oksian1 [2.3K]

Answer:

C. The narrator feels shame about what happened but still tries to tell the story in a truthful way.

Explanation:

According to a different source, this question refers to the text "The Man in the Well" by Ira Sher. In this story, we learn about a group of children who find a man in a well, but decide not to help him, and instead, they tease him for days. The narrator tells the story as an adult, and he gives us several hints of the fact that he is embarrassed, such as the fact that he will never go close to the well again. Despite this embarrassment, the author succeeds in telling the story in a truthful way.

Which sentence uses possessive pronouns correctly?
AleksandrR [38]
B. A possessive noun should have its instead of it's (which is a contraction for it is).
For A.  Diana is a singular noun and the apostrophe should come after the r instead of after the s.
For C. The duck would've dunked ITS instead of IT'S beak since it is possessive.
For D.  You do not need to put an apostrophe since theirs is already a possessive noun.
