Solve for d

d=5t+2

d=2+5t (divide both sides of the second one by two)

so they are both equal to d=5t+2

That means that the graph of the solutions to the system is a straight line - because every point on the line would be a solution to the system. It also means that the equation are equivalent. This means that every solution to the first equation is a solution to the second equation.

This question is poorly worded because they both go the same direction, but since parallel lines are defined as lines that never intersect, and these lines do intersect (they're the same line)...

Among the four, the false statement is "The graphs of the equations are parallel lines."

Answer:

The graphs of the equations are parallel lines.

Step-by-step explanation:

This is the false statement because all they did was DOUBLE the top equation and wrote the new equation below it. This would be considered dependency. Whenever we have <em>infinitely</em><em> </em><em>many</em><em> </em><em>solutions</em><em>,</em><em> </em>we have a dependent system of equations.

The values of x and y vary directly
Rama09 [41]

Answer:

y = - \frac{3}{2} x

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that x and y vary directly then the equation relating them is

y = kx ← k is the constant of variation

To find k use the condition x = - 4, y = 6, thus

k = \frac{y}{x} = \frac{6}{-4} = - \frac{3}{2}

y = - \frac{3}{2} x ← equation of variation
