The main participants of the First Crusade were formed by many belligerent kingdoms. I believe that we can separate them into the Papal States, the Kingdom of France, the County of Flanders, and the Holy Roman Empire. The primary reason was to free the Holy Land, however, there were political and economical reasons behind this Pope decision.
A major difference between Japanese Samurai and European Knights during the Middle Ages is that only Knights "<span>C. Received land in payment for their services," since in Japanese culture such land grants were not seen as being honorable. </span>
