Certain areas of government can do different things and each branch make sure that the other branches don’t get too powerful. The only example that I can think of would be America, but another example that would more apply to Europe (which is where Montesquieu was from obvi.) would be England: England is a constitutional monarchy and they had a system that was similar to checks and balances which was kind of an agreement between the monarchy and parliament.
