In the story "A Worn Path," by Eudora Welty, an elderly black woman named Phoenix Jackson who travels a long journey to find a medicine for her grandson. Thus, with her advanced age, poor sight and physical suffering she struggles to walk , as well as to deal with people because of her social condition. However, she is determined and obtains the medicine at the doctor's office.
