The answer is the Middle Passage. It is the most well-known triangular trade in human history was the 18th century trade between West Africa, the West Indies, and Europe. It refers to the piece of the trade where Africans, densely packed onto ships, were transported across the Atlantic to the West Indies.  The journey took three to four months and, during this time, the imprisoned people typically lay chained in rows on the floor of the hold<span> or on shelves that ran around the inside of the ships' hulls.</span>
