Which one of the following is not one of the events that made a major impact on the United States in 1968 and moving forward in

the following decades?
A) At the conclusion of the six-day war between Arab and Israeli forces, the Arab allies met to discuss future plans to defeat Israel and their allies. After three failed attempts to defeat Israel and its allies the Arab nations came up with a new ploy and economic assault and the heart of their enemies. The Arab nations decided to form a new oil conglomerate that could control the export petroleum around the world. In 1968, they announced their new organization as OPEC, the organization petroleum exporting countries. One of the first acts taken by OPEC was to limit the world's oil supply. OPEC knew that imported American industries could not succeed without the foreign petroleum imports. One industry was very vulnerable to this lack of petroleum, The American automotive industry would be ground to a halt ask too would US steel. US steel relied heavily on the automotive industry for its product. As a result of the oil prices the automotive industry moved away from producing steel cars Anne relied more on fiberglass. This put The American military industrial complex in jeopardy.

B) In 1968, The American Civil Rights movement came to a departure point. Throughout the 1960s the civil rights movement had been marked by a nonviolent approach towards Jim Crow laws in the South. Many people felt that the nonviolent approach was not the correct tactic to change laws and ideas in the South. One such person was Malcolm X, who believed that Civil Rights leaders should fight fire with fire, not to start a fight but to retain the right to retaliate if necessary. The one stalwart who remained a constant in the Civil Rights Movement and who many people regarded as the leader of the civil rights movement was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His leadership of the movement lead towards both the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. However, in April of 1968 Martin Luther King junior was assassinated in Memphis TN. without doctor King the SCLC began to lose its influence on the movement Anne was replaced by the black power movement. This could be seen in the Summer Olympics In Mexico City we're two track stars stood with the black power salute.

C) Tet Offensive shows the American people that the war is not near the end Public opinion no longer favored Johnson, and he does not seek a 2nd term. THE ANTI-VIETNAM MOVEMENT EMERGES. Many people began publicly protesting US involvement in Vietnam where an abnormally large amount of lower- or middle-class Americans were drafted. Teach-ins took place at over 122 colleges in 1965 many focused on the unfair draft system and called for a change. More than 3300 Americans were prosecuted for refusing to fight some fled to Canada to avoid serving. The Protests began to cause a social divide in the United States. Hawks vs. Doves – protestors were criticized for lack of patriotism. Hawks – people insisting that the US continue to fight in Vietnam, these often were part of the older generations of World War II and Korea. And the Doves – people wanting the US to withdraw from Vietnam. As the election year continued Vietnam became the critical item in the upcoming election. The year’s protesting culminated in Chicago at the Democratic National Convention. During protests outside the Convention center a Police riot broke out where protesters were beaten and arrested. The fight even spilled onto the floor of the convention.

D) Another movement that made great headway in 1968 the United States was the women's rights movement. Women in the 60s became increasingly resentful of society and begin fighting for political change Equal Pay Act (1963). The National Organization for Women (NOW) was created in 1966 to improve social conditions for women Demanded better educational opportunities, aided women in the workplace, and publicly denounced job discrimination Betty Friedman’s “The Feminine Mystique” was a radical book stating that female happiness was not built in the home. By 1968 Women were ready to act, Women's Liberation groups, joined by members of New York NOW, targeted the Miss America Beauty Contest in Atlantic City. This was the event from which the myth of "bra-burning" feminists was created by the press, distorting the early image of the movement. In fact, there was an ordinance against burning anything on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, which the demonstrators observed.

Which best describes how the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution affected US involvement in the Vietnam War?
erica [24]
Even though there are no choices in your question, here is some information that will help.

The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was passed by the United States Congress on August 7, 1964. This allowed US President Lyndon B. Johnson to take any measures he wants in order to repel any attack against the US army and to use force however he wants to stop future aggression in Vietnam. This resolution essentially allows the president to send as much troops as he wants. Along with this, he can use whatever weapons/technology he wants. This gives the president a significant amount of power.

What is an executive order allowed to do? What is it not allowed<br> to do?
Lady_Fox [76]
An executive order is a signed, written, and published directive from the President of the United States that manages operations of the federal government. They are numbered consecutively, so executive orders may be referenced by their assigned number, or their topic. Other presidential documents are sometimes similar to executive orders in their format, formality, and issue, but have different purposes. Proclamations, which are also signed and numbered consecutively, communicate information on holidays, commemorations, federal observances, and trade. Administrative orders—e.g. memos, notices, letters, messages—are not numbered, but are still signed, and are used to manage administrative matters of the federal government. All three types of presidential documents—executive orders, proclamations, and certain administrative orders—are published in the Federal Register, the daily journal of the federal government that is published to inform the public about federal regulations and actions. They are also catalogued by the National Archives as official documents produced by the federal government. Both executive orders and proclamations have the force of law, much like regulations issued by federal agencies, so they are codified under Title 3 of the Code of Federal Regulations, which is the formal collection of all of the rules and regulations issued by the executive branch and other federal agencies.
Executive orders are not legislation; they require no approval from Congress, and Congress cannot simply overturn them. Congress may pass legislation that might make it difficult, or even impossible, to carry out the order, such as removing funding. Only a sitting U.S. President may overturn an existing executive order by issuing another executive order to that effect.
