Why is sergeant major hesitant to handover the monkeys paw?
Daniel [21]

Answer:

Sergeant-Major Morris fears for the curiosity and human greed displayed by the White family, in addition to fearing for what may happen to their next owner.

Explanation:

The book "The monkey's paw" is a novel of the genre of horror literature, published in 1902, it tells how Sergeant-Major Morris gets a stuffed monkey leg that was haunted and fulfills 3 wishes to 3 different owners, and that its current owner's wishes are fulfilled but in a counterproductive way.

The White family shows some interest in buying the monkey paw, but Sergeant Morris does not want to sell the monkey paw because he fears what may happen to its next owner due to a desire for a fast path to a life of tranquility and luxury.

Describe the setting of “The Most Dangerous Game,” and explain the impact it has on the plot. Use specific examples.
maria [59]
Plot Overview

On a yacht bound for Rio de Janeiro, a passenger named Whitney points out Ship-Trap Island in the distance, a place that sailors dread and avoid. He and his friend Rainsford are big-game hunters bound for a hunting trip in the Amazon River basin. As the yacht sails through the darkness, the two men discuss whether their prey actually feels fear. Rainsford believes that the world consists only of predators and prey, although Whitney is not as certain. Noticing the jitteriness of the crew, Whitney wants to sail past the mysterious island as soon as possible. He theorizes that sailors can sense danger and that evil emanates in waves like light and sound.

Read the following passage from "The War Prayer":
Dennis_Churaev [7]

The passage contains the device

B. Polysyndeton

Explanation:

This obscure literary device here is used masterfully to contain the lines of this passage into a single, seemingly rambling sentence that goes on longer than it normally would due to the use of connections that could have been removed easily from here.

The choice of keeping in the connections here shows that the author wanted the lines to have a seeming rambling quality to them as they go on and on without stopping by the devices that could be used here.
