WHY: In meiosis, sex cells (eggs or sperm) are produced. This means that they must have <u>half </u>the number of chromosomes in each, and they must be each <u>UNIQUE</u>.
Thus, the other options (A,B,D) cannot be correct because the product of meiosis cannot be the exact copy of the parent cells, and so cannot have the same number of chromosomes either.
