Calculation of amount of Debt and the equity:

It is given that the debt-to-equity ratio is 1.75 times, that means Debt / Equity = 1.75, or we can say Debt = 1.75 * Equity

It is also given that Total assets are $25 Million

We know that:

Debt + Equity = Total Assets

Hence we can say:

1.75 *Equity + Equity = 25 million

Equity *(1.75+1) = 25

Equity  = 25/2.75 = 9.091 Million

And Debt = 1.75 * Equity = 1.75*25/2.75 = 15.909 Million

Hence their assets are financed with the debt of $15.909 Million and how much with equity of $9.091 Million.

Bombay Energy and Tangent Corporation

1. Bombay Energy

a) Net Income:

Sales $12,500

Operating Costs $9,500

Gross profit $3,000

Depreciation $925

EBIT $2,075

Interest Expense $234

EBT $1,841

Taxes (37%) (681)

Net Income $1,160

b) Free Cash Flow:

= $283

2. Tangent Corporation

a) EVA:

= -$762,720

Explanation:

a) Bombay Data:

Sales $12,500

Operating Costs $9,500

Depreciation $925

Outstanding bonds = $3,900

Interest Rate on bonds = 6%

Interest expense = $234 ($3,900 * 6%)

Federal and State Income Tax Rate = 37%

Capital expenditures = $1,500

Net Operating Working Capital investment = $450

b) Bombay' Free Cash Flow equals its earnings before interest and taxes multiplied by (1 − tax rate), add depreciation and amortization, and then subtract changes in working capital and capital expenditure.

EBIT $2,075 (1 - 37%)

Depreciation 925

Capital expenditure (1,500)

Net working capital (450)

Free Cash Flow $283

= $1,307 + 925 - ($1,500 + 450)

= $283

c) Tangent Data:

Net Income - $756,000

Interest Expense - $300,000

Income before tax $456,000

Tax Rate -37% (168,720)

NOPAT $287,280

Total Investor Supplied Capital - $10.5 million

Weighted Average Cost of Capital -10%

The formula for calculating EVA is:

EVA = NOPAT - (Invested Capital * WACC)

Where:

NOPAT = Net operating profit after taxes

Invested capital = Debt + capital leases + shareholders' equity

WACC = Weighted average cost of capital

= $287,280 - ($10,500,000 * 10%)

= $287,280 - 1,050,000

= -$762,720

Which of these is the BEST example of the transactional communication model? Please choose the correct answer from the following
Dimas [21]

Answer:

4) Ron and his friends meet at the campus café to hash out a plan for their group project.

Explanation:

The transactional communication model refers to a process where messages are exchanged between a sender and a receiver where each side takes turns to send or receive. It involves a circular flow of messages and relies on feedback since the original sender later becomes the receiver, and then a sender again, etc.

There is no immediate feedback regarding options 1, 2 and 3, therefore the transactional communication model does not apply to those events.

With the start of the subprime financial crisis in August 2007, the dollar ________ in value against the euro as the Fed lowered
jek_recluse [69]

Answer:

C) declined; rise

Explanation:

When the fed cut the interest rates, the value of the dollar fell against the euro, because lower interest rates means that investors get a lesser return for their dollar assets, and as result, prefer to invest in euros, leading to a devaluation of the American currency.

The opposite occurred when the European Central Bank cut interest rates in Europe, after the financial crisis spread there. Again, lower interest rates in Europe meant that investors would earn a lower retunr on their euro assets, and because of that, they preferred to invest in dollars, or move to other currencies (for example, currencies from developing countries like China).
