This was because Western Rome's armies were much too strong and maintained control. Constantine was overthrown by a Foreign Prince', and that was the start of their ruin. The empire, came to it's downfall because of the Prince's poor leadership. He had been successful at building a new political center that was unified in the East by the Christian Religion.

He returned to Massachusetts and was elected governor of the Commonwealth, serving in that role for most of his remaining years.
