It is a saying that children use to make a promise. They will draw an X<span> over their heart with their finger and say </span> "Cross my heart, hope to die."<span>  They may also add </span>"stick a needle in my eye."<span> to make the promise stronger. Hurryyyyy!!!Which choice best revises sentence 3 so that it
dem82 [27]

Answer:

D). In Heart of a Samurai, Manjiro is faced with grave dangers, such as finding enough food to survive and swimming to the boats filled with barbarians.

Explanation:

The last choice most aptly revises sentence 3 as it is grammatically and lexically coherent. <u>The use of commas after the introductory prepositional phrases and before the beginning of examples('such as....barbarians') is appropriate which clearly signifies the separation of words/phrases and makes the meaning more clear and evident for the readers to understand</u>. Thus, <u>option D</u> is the correct answer.

Hello!

The effects of using the figurative language that is described in the story are:

By speculating about his genetic makeup, the author conveys a contemplative tone.

By referencing his persistence, the author conveys a proud tone

By describing the differences between a terrier and a spaniel, the author implies an ironic tone.

Argument:

The author tends to use plenty of metaphors and similes with a tendency of contradiction. For example, when the author compares a spaniel and a terrier gives the reader a metaphor of how different these races are between each other but at the same time, he shows how valuable is Nibble, the mongrel dog.
