An ecosystem consists of all the living and non-living things in a specific natural setting. Plants, animals, insects, microorganisms, rocks, soil, water and sunlight are major components of many ecosystems. All types of ecosystems fall into one of two categories: terrestrial or aquatic. Terrestrial ecosystems are land-based, while aquatic are water-based. The major types of ecosystems are forests, grasslands, deserts, tundra, freshwater and marine. The word “biome” may also be used to describe terrestrial ecosystems which extend across a large geographic area, such as tundra.

Is fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase activated, inhibited, or unaffected in response to a glucagon signal?
Crazy boy [7]

Fructose-1, 6-bisphosphatase is activated in response to a glucagon signal.

What is the purpose of Glucagon signals?

 • Glucagon signals specify that fuel molecules are required in the bloodstream.
 • So these signals activate Fructose-1, 6-bisphosphatase (F1, 6BP) so as to increase the level of sugar and other fuels required for production of energy.
 • In the process of gluconeogenesis, new glucose molecules are synthesized from other non carbohydrate sources.
 • As glucose is required in the bloodstream so F-1, 6BP should be activated as it acts as a rate limiting enzyme in gluconeogenesis.
 • Gluconeogenesis occurs when the dietary intake of glucose is very low.
 • Glucose is required as a source of energy by almost all body cells so in case of less oxygen it is synthesized from other molecules like amino acids.

In many groups of fungi, karyogamy and plasmogamy are separated in time and space. One potential advantage of this arrangement i
timurjin [86]

Advantages of separated karyogamy and plasmogamy.

Explanation:

In many fungi, the time of nuclear fusion is separated from the time of cytoplasmic fusion . This arrangement benefits by allowing mating and spore formation to occur in different environment.

Karyogamy is the process of fusion of nuclei , this precedes spore formation.

Plasmogamy is the fusion of cytoplasm, this process involves mating.

Mating is succeeded by spore formation. Both the processes are favored by different environmental condition.
