e since 1900 occurred in 1960 in Valdivia, Chile, and registered at 9.5 on the Richter scale. About how many times greater was the intensity of the Chilean earthquake?

The Richter scale measures the earthquake in terms of logarithms. Therefore to calculate the intensity of the earthquake we have to find out the anti-log or inverse of the logarithm of the Richter scale number.

We are given the Haiti earthquake was measuring 7.0

The Chilean earthquake was measuring 9.5

So difference in Richter scale = 9.5 -7.0 = 2.5

So, Difference in intensity = antilog_{10} (2.5) = 316

So intensity of the Chilean earthquake was 316 times greater than the Haitian earthquake

Consider a function that describes how a particular car’s gas mileage depends on its speed. What would be an appropriate domain
natta225 [31]
Domain are x values (independent variable);

Speed would be independent so what speeds can be used ? -30 mph, 30 mph, 1000 mph?

Can a car go 0 mph?

What is realistic?

I would say 0 greater or equal to x greater than whatever you think is beyond the max that a car can go.

In which number is the value represented by the digit 9 equal to 1/10 of the value represented by the digit 9 in the number 73,9
marshall27 [118]

Answer: 90

Step-by-step explanation:

In the number 73,951, the digit 9 is on the third position, so you need to put the number of the position minus one zeros before it: ( position number 3, 3 - 1 = 2, so we put 2 zeros)

the 9 in that digit represents a 900.

now, 1/10 times that number is:

900*(1/10) = 900/10 = 90

then the answer is 90.

In the number 90, the value represented by the 9 is equal to 1./10 times the value represented by the 9 in 73,951

What two theorems are being used ?
leva [86]

Answer:

  • Angle-Angle-Angle(AAA)
  • Side-Angle-side(SAS)

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's see what is similar in both triangles

  • <A=<F
  • <B=<E
  • <C=<D

So Angle-Angle-Angle similarly theorem verified

  • AB=ED
  • FD=BC
  • BC=EF

So Side-Angle-side or Side-Side-Side similarity theorem verified
