The answer is: To make sure business is conducted safely and fairly

Business is created to obtain profit. Often times, safety precautions and fairplay that corporations need to take to protect the consumers would reduce the amount of profit that they can obtain. This cause many of the corporations started to overlook the safety precaution.

Because of this, government creates regulations in order to protect the consumers and ensure the corporations do not cheat each other.
