The lava released by a volcanic eruption separates two populations of a species of monkey. What does this represent?

Answer:

Geographical Isolation

Explanation:

Geographic isolation consists of separating a population by a geographical barrier, thus forming subpopulations. The geographical barrier can be a river, a mountain or a volcanic eruption, as shown in the question above.

As a result of geographic isolation, subpopulations begin to suffer different pressures and consequently the genes selected in one subpopulation will be different from the other subpopulation. Due to the geographical barrier, the two subpopulations will be prevented from crossing and the differences between them will become increasingly pronounced. Thus arose the subspecies.

Answer:

Geographical Isolation

Explanation:

Lava serves as geographical barrier to separate the two populations of monkey. These two isolated populations accumulate variations and gradually become reproductively isolated. Reproductive isolation brought about by geographical isolation leads to formation allopatric species which are now present in different geographical regions.

The movement of molecules down a concentration gradient through transport proteins in the cell membrane is a type of
ioda

Answer:

Facilitated Diffusion

Explanation:

Some molecules can move down their concentration gradients by crossing to the lipid portion of the membrane directly, while others must pass through membrane protein s in a process called Facilitated Diffusion

After you’ve removed a loopful of broth culture from the culture tube, what’s your next step in preparing a smear?.
Vera_Pavlovna [14]

Given what we know, after you’ve removed a loopful of broth culture from the culture tube you should immediately apply a flame to the open end of the test tube.

<h3>Why would this be the next step?</h3>

Once you have removed the loopful of broth culture from the tube, you should apply a flame to the end of the tube, this is of vital importance. The reason for this is to deny any other contaminants from entering or exiting the culture sample.

Therefore, we can confirm that after you’ve removed a loopful of broth culture from the culture tube you should immediately apply a flame to the open end of the test tube.

You INCORRECTLY perform an acid-fast stain on a smear from a mixed culture of Mycobacterium smegmatis (acid-fast) cells and Stap
Dahasolnce [82]

Answer:

In acid-fast staining, carbon fuchsin is used as a primary stain which dissolves the mycolic acid present in the cell wall of <em>Mycobacterium smegmatis </em>and penetrates through it which results in staining <em>Mycobacterium</em> red.

Staphylococcus aureus cell wall does not contain mycolic acid so carbon fuchsin does not penetrate its cell wall, therefore, it becomes colorless after destaining with acid alcohol.

After destaining step methylene blue is added to stain non-acid-fast bacteria blue. So if I mistakenly forgot to use methylene blue during the procedure <em>Mycobacterium smegmatis</em> will appear red due to carbon fuchsin present in their cell wall and S<em>taphylococcus aureus</em> will appear colorless because it is destained.

One method for separating polypeptides makes use of their different solubilities. The solubility of large polypeptides in water
Naddika [18.5K]

Answer:

The solubility of any substance in water depends on its polarity. The polar molecule dissolves more easily in the water than the non polar molecule. Amino acids have different polarity at different pH.

(a) (Lys-Ala)3 : The (Lys-Ala)3 contain more positive charge and highly polar the at pH 7 as compared with the  (Gly)20 that remains uncharged and has less polarity.

(b) (Glu)20 :This amino acids negatively charged at pH 7 and highly polar than the (Phe-Met)3 which is non polar or less polar and hence least soluble  in water.

(c) (Asn-Ser-His)5 is highly polar at pH 3 as compared with the (Ala-Asp-Gly)5 that contains the carboxylate groups of Asp residues that are partially neutral. The  (Asn-Ser-His)5 contains = the imidazole groups of His residues are fully polar and soluble in water.

(d) (Asn-Ser-His)5 is polar at pH 6.0 because both have polar side chains Ser but (Asn-Ser-His)5 is only partially partially protonated due to the His side chains. Thus,  (Asn-Ser-His)5 is more soluble in water.

What are the function of an enzymes of the animals body
Mekhanik [1.2K]
In animals, an important function of enzymes is to help digest food. Digestive enzymes speed up reactions that break down large molecules of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats into smaller molecules the body can use... hope this helps
