Rabies is a zoonotic disease caused by the rabies virus. They are mainly spread by animals that are carriers for this virus by biting, licking or scratching. Some animals that are carriers of rabies virus are dogs, bats, raccoons, foxes, wolves, skunks, etc.

The incubation period is the time from the entry of the virus to the appearance of the first symptom of the disease. Generally, the incubation period of rabies virus is between 2-8 weeks but in children, the incubation period can be shorter.  

There is no cure for rabies disease so the fatality rate in rabies is 100% and every year around 55000 human death occurs due to rabies.
