How do paragraphs 64-78 contribute to the
meaning of the story? Snow White
Asappp
harkovskaia [24]

Answer:

The dwarfs are distraught by Snow White’s death, and lay her to rest in a glass coffin. But then a prince comes by (for some unspecified reason) and is captivated by the dead girl’s beauty as she lies in the glass coffin (a detail bordering on the morbid, but we’ll gloss over that). He begs the dwarfs to let him take the coffin with him (a detail it’s harder to gloss over), and they reluctantly agree. Which is just as well, since as soon as the prince picks up the coffin, the piece of poisoned apple falls from Snow White’s mouth and she is revived. The prince asks her if she will marry him, and she says yes. The wicked stepmother learns that a new queen is getting married (thanks to that perennial blabbermouth, her magical looking-glass), and goes to the wedding to see this new queen. When she sees that it is Snow White, back from the dead, she is so consumed with rage that she falls down dead. And that’s the end of the wicked stepmother, and the end of the story of Snow White, who lives happily ever after with the prince.

(1) George Washington Carver was born in Missouri in about 1864. (2) As a boy he was known for his ability to care for plants. (
blsea [12.9K]

Answer:

I believe the best answer to be letter A) sentences 5 and 6.

Explanation:

What we have in sentences 5 and 6 is an example of wordiness. Wordiness means taking longer than what is necessary to get to the point. It happens when we use redundant expressions or simply when we use too many words. Removing wordiness from a text helps it to flow more easily.

In sentence 5, we learn that Carver taught students something. In sentence 6, we learn he taught them something else. Both sentences are quite short and could very well be combined to avoid the repetition of "he taught". All we need to do is add the conjunction "and", and remove the excess words.

(5) Later, he taught students how to care for plants. (6) He also taught them how to use science in farming. --> Later, he taught students how to care for plants and how to use science in farming.

When we first meet Odysseus in Book V he is marooned on Calypso's island, almost at the end of his journey. Again, why begin nea
vladimir1956 [14]

Answer:

 • Answer 1) In The Odyssey, the events are not organized in chronological order. The book starts with Odysseus marooned on Calypsos´s island. It continues with the story of Telemachus, and it goes back to the hero´s story in Ogygia. This resource helps to show that both stories occur simultaneously. It also highlights the tension between Telemachus and the suitors to reach a climax when Oddysus arrives home in the following chapters. Another effective resource is the use of flashbacks. When Odysseus tells the Phaeacians how he left Troy and arrived on Calypso, he takes readers back to the first story, chronologically speaking, but from a first-person point of view. The book starts near the end to show everything that happens while Odysseus is kept in Calypso and his long wait to return home.
 • Answer 2) Calypsos´s garden offers Oddyseus everything a man wishes. However, the heavenly place cannot make him forget about his family and home. Ogygia awakens his loyalty and longing for Ithaca.
 • Answer 3) Calypso plays the role of a good host when she aids Odysseus, her guest. In the beginning, both have a good host-guest relationship. However, Calypso enchants and imprisons Odysseus, who wants to return to Ithaca. Thus, a good host-guest relationship turns into a bad one.
 • Answer 4) Odysseus does not want to stay with Calypso in spite of having a heavenly life. He is truly loyal to his family and he realizes Ogygia could never be his home. He feels the need to fight for Ithaca and Ogygia turns into a boring and simple place for him.
 • Answer 5) When I was eighteen, I realized that I was no longer a child because I had to assume a lot of responsibilities as an adult. Thus, I decided to give up having so much fun with friends to grow up and fulfill my duties. As a result, I learned that the only way to reach my goals is by focussing on what matters.
