Welcome to Brainly! Doctors often examined slaves before they were purchased from Africa to make sure they were in good health to be sold and work. The stronger and better the slaves were, the more money they would sell for and the more work they would do.

Answer:

Doctors examined slaves from Africa to determine if the slaves were Malaria resistant and also physically healthy

Explanation:

Slaves born with Malaria-resistant genes in them usually commanded a higher price in the slave trade markets. so before buying them from Africa doctors would examine the slaves for Malaria-resistant genes and also for overall physical wellness.

when a group of slaves are physically healthy the determining factor on whether to buy or not would be the resistance to Malaria. this was because of the presence of malaria causing virulent was present in the southern parts of the United states were most of the slaves for Africa were taken for labor.

No one wanted to buy a slave that will fall sick to malaria and not be able to work very well.
