So if you have 30 oil, 24 photos, 21 sketches, the first thing I notice is that all of these numbers are divisible by 3. Since there are no specifications of how many rows for each category. You can divde the 30/10, 24/8, and 21/7 you would have 10 rows oil, 8 rows of photos, and 7 rows of sketches. In short, I believe your answer should be 3.

Hope this helps! Sorry if this explanation is unclear, please feel free to ask questions. <3

Answer:

Each row can have 3 art pieces.

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that there are 30 oil paintings, 24 photographs and 21 sketches that a museum wants to display.

The arrangement of all these art pieces must be in rows such that each row has the same number and same type of art piece displayed.

If we observe, we can see that each of the numbers of the art pieces (including oil paintings, photographs and the sketches) have a greatest common factor which is 3.

Therefore, 3 art pieces can be displayed in each of the rows.

  • Solving systems of equations by substitution/elimination

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Define Systems

-3x - 3y = 3

y = -5x - 17

Step 2: Solve for x

Substitution

  1. Substitute in y: -3x - 3(-5x - 17) = 3
  2. Distribute -3: -3x + 15x + 51 = 3
  3. Combine like terms: 12x + 51 = 3
  4. Isolate x term: 12x = -48
  5. Isolate x: x = -4

Step 3: Solve for y

  1. Define equation: y = -5x - 17
  2. Substitute in x: y = -5(-4) - 17
  3. Multiply: y = 20 - 17
  4. Subtract: y = 3
