Did the Catholic Church support the Reconquista? How do you know?
OleMash [197]

Attempts were made from the late 1st century to the late 3rd century to establish the church in the Iberian peninsula. Canons of the Synod of Elvira (circa 30 in rome5 AD) indicate that the church was greatly isolated from the general population even at that time. The situation of the Christians in Iberia improved with the advent of the Edict of Milan in 313 AD, after which Christians were more or less free to practice their religion openly new religion within the Roman Empire. Over the course of the 4th century, the church built significant footholds particularly around Seville, Cordoba and Toledo.

What was the main reason that immigrants in cities became new voters in large numbers?
dalvyx [7]
The first reference would be “When thou passeth through the waters I will be with thee, and through the Rivers, they shall not overflow thee,” Isaiah, 43:2. This is a verse she alludes to when they cut some dry trees, to make rafts to carry them over the river: and soon her turn came to go over: By the advantage of some brush which they had laid upon the raft to sit upon, she did not wet her foot (which many of themselves at the other end were mid-leg deep) which cannot but be acknowledged as a favor of God to her weakened body, it being a very cold time. “When thou passeth through the waters I will be with thee, and through the Rivers, they shall not overflow thee,” Isaiah, 43:2. On Saturday they boiled an old horse’s leg which they had got, and so we drank of the broth, as soon as they thought it was ready, and when it was almost gone, they filled it up again.
Second Bible reference is, Psalm 137:1, “By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down: yea, we wept when we remembered Zion.”
This is about a month after she had been captured, she was starving, they were still traveling.

Which act passed by the british government stated that the colonists had to pay tax on all printed material?
34kurt

The Stamp Act of 1765 was the act passed by the British government that stated that the colonists had to pay tax on all printed materials. It is also the first internal tax charged on American colonists by the British government. The act arrived at a time when debt from the Seven Years’ War was one of the British Empire’s problem and it was thought up that North American colonies could be a source of revenue.
