1108 + 1073 + x
1st addenda is 108 over, second addenda is 73 over
Add 108+73 = 181
1,000 - 181 = 819

Fiona wrote the linear equation y = 2/5 x – 5. When Henry wrote his equation, they discovered that his equation had all the same
Hoochie [10]

we have

y=\frac{2}{5}x-5

Let's Isolate the variable y in each of the cases and then compare with Fiona's equation  to determine the solution of the problem

case A) x-\frac{5}{4}y= \frac{25}{4}

Multiply by 4 both sides

4x-5y= 25

5y=4x-25

Divide by 5 both sides

y=\frac{4}{5}x-5

therefore

the case A) is not equal to Fiona's equation

case B) x-\frac{5}{2}y= \frac{25}{4}

Multiply by 4 both sides

4x-10y= 25

10y=4x-25

Divide by 10 both sides

y=\frac{2}{5}x-2.5

therefore

the case B) is not equal to Fiona's equation

case C) x-\frac{5}{4}y= \frac{25}{2}

Multiply by 4 both sides

4x-5y= 50

5y=4x-50

Divide by 5 both sides

y=\frac{4}{5}x-10

therefore

the case C) is not equal to Fiona's equation

case D) x-\frac{5}{2}y= \frac{25}{2}

Multiply by 2 both sides

2x-5y= 25

5y=2x-25

Divide by 5 both sides

y=\frac{2}{5}x-5

therefore

the case D) is  equal to Fiona's equation

<u>the answer is</u>

x-\frac{5}{2}y= \frac{25}{2}

125 tickets were sold for the jazz band concert for a total of $1,022. Students tickets cost $6 each, and general admission tick
rodikova [14]

Answer:

Number of student tickets sold are 57 and general tickets sold are 68.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of student tickets = x and the number of general tickets = y.

It is given that in total 125 tickets were sold.

So, we have,

x+y=125

Also, students tickets is sold for $6 each and the general tickets are sold for $10 each.

Since, the total cost of the tickets is $1022.

So, we get,

6x+10y=1022

Thus, the system of equations obtained is,

x + y = 125 ........................(1)

6x +  10y = 1022

Multiply equation (1) by 6 gives us,

6x + 6y = 750 ............................(2)

6x + 10y = 1022 .........................(3)

Subtact (2) from (3), we get,

10y - 6y = 1022 - 750

i.e. 4y = 272

i.e. y= 68.

So, equation (1) gives,

x = 125 - y

i.e. y = 125 - 68

i.e. y = 57

Hence, the number of student tickets sold are 57 and general tickets sold are 68.
