This sentence talks about the salmon, because they are silver color and live in the ocean but once they are ready to reproduce, they turn red and they swim up the river where they where born.

This last paragraph describes the amazing, and extraordinary, feeling that the author has when he/she sees the glacier from his car and how close it is.
