How did lineage groups effect hierarchical structures within african societies?
kicyunya [14]

Answer:

One common social structure among ethnic groups in sub-Saharan Africa is segmentary lineage organisation. Segmentary lineage societies are characterised by the foremost importance of kin relationships in determining individuals’ social and political allegiances, as well as their patterns of residence.1 Several anthropologists have posited a direct link between segmentary lineage organisation and violent conflict (especially Evans-Pritchard 1940 and Sahlins 1961, but also Bohannon 1958, Kelly 1985, Lewis 1961, 1989, 1994, Salzman 2007). In particular, they argue that clearly defined allegiances based on genealogy make segmentary lineage societies well designed to mobilise combatants for conflict. To our knowledge, however, this relationship has never been studied systematically or empirically.

Consider the diagram in Figure 1 of a hypothetical (patrilineal) segmentary lineage society. Triangles represent men and each row represents a generation. All individuals descend from a common ancestor ‘I’ and are also members of smaller lineage segments with other individuals who are increasingly closely related to them. In Figure 1, if individual ‘i’ were to have a dispute with individual ‘ix,’ all individuals belonging to ‘Major Segment A’ would be allied with, and come to the defence of, individual ‘i.’  Similarly, all individuals in ‘Major Segment B’ would be allied with and come to the defence of individual ‘ix.’ Thus, a dispute between two individuals escalates into a dispute between two large communities, as individuals mobilise to support members of their lineage or lineage segment.

Why did the Incans build such a large road network in their empire?
RideAnS [48]
The Incas built such a  large road network stretching for 1000's of kilometers north and south of Cuzco, their capital, in what is now Peru, in order to keep the lines of communication open with their far flung empire, ie to convey messages to their local rulers, and probably for military purposes to have routes for their armies to follow in times of war. The roads were built by the ordinary people ie the men of  a certain age would be subject to the mit'a or compulsory public service to build roads, temples and work in the mines.

In what ways did the reforms of the warren court reflect the social policies of kennedy and johnson
andrew-mc [135]
The Warren Court typically made decisions that bolstered the privileges of needy individuals, minorities, or other burdened gatherings. Both Kennedy and Johnson attempted to enhance life in the United States by diminishing neediness and advancing sexual orientation and racial correspondence. The Warren Court bolstered and mirrored these strategies by including similar gatherings, settling on the court choices and the social arrangements cooperate.

What did the nazis primarily use concentration camps for during world war ii?
yanalaym [24]
They used them to keep the people who they captured. They captured these people because they either were or looked like Jews. These people were put under harsh conditions going to the concentration camps. They also kept prisoners of war in there. Obviously, nobody wanted to go there. If you want to know more look up Anne-Frank's story. She wrote everything she lived during the time Hitler ruled. She died though and didn't make it out alive. She also went to a concentration camp if I remember correctly.

Hope this helps!
