What name is given to the process in which a strand of DNA is used as a template for the manufacture of a strand of pre-mRNA? A.
777dan777 [17]
I'm pretty sure the answer is going to be transcription. RNA can be viewed as a readable form of DNA for the ribosome to then translate into a protein.

In short, if DNA is being used as a template for mRNA, then it's transcription. If the RNA is being read to create a protein then it's translation.

Which statement regarding cholesterol is false? It is the precursor for steroid hormones. It is not usually a component of eukar
oksian1 [2.3K]

Answer:

It is not usually a component of eukaryotic membranes.

Explanation:

Cholesterol is responsible for modulating the fluidity of the cell membranes of eukaryotes.

It is produced in most animal cells, and its formation is substantially active in liver cells, where bile acids are synthesized from cholesterol.

In addition, cholesterol is the precursor of steroid hormones such as progesterone, testosterone, estradiol and cortisol.

Cholesterol (like other lipids) is amphipathic, meaning it has a polar head (hydrophilic) and an apolar tail (hydrophobic).

Given the above, it can be concluded that the false statement is "it is not usually a component of eukaryotic membranes".

How do enzymes act as catalyst to speed up biological reactions
Alona [7]

Enzymes are biological catalysts. ... Thus enzymes speed up reactions by lowering activation energy. Many enzymes change shape when substrates bind. This is termed "induced fit", meaning that the precise orientation of the enzyme required for catalytic activity can be induced by the binding of the substrate.on:
