to get a₁, subtract 5 each time you subtract one from the subscript

so

a₁₁ = 17
a₁₀ = 12
a₉ = 7
a₈ = 2
a₇ = -3
a₆ = -8
a₅ = -13
a₄ = -18
a₃ = -23
a₂ = - 28
a₁ = -33



a₁ = -33
