His theory of "continental drift," presented for the first time in January of that year, started a scientific revolution in geology that deeply affected the way we understand how Earth systems work.

One century ago, in January 1912, Alfred Wegener presented for the first time his theory of "continental drift" at a meeting held in Frankfurt, in Germany (*). Wegener had collected geological and paleontological data that gave weight to an old observation: that the margin of continents on the opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean seemed to correspond; as in a gigantic puzzle. Accordingly, Wegener proposed that the present continents were once joined together but had slowly drifted away from each other of hundred of millions of years.

pogonyaev

After Texas gained independence, its constitution was influenced by the Constitution of the United States.

When did Texas gain independence?

After fighting a war with Mexico, Texas eventually gained its independence in 1836.

Most of the people who fought in the war were Anglo-Texans or White Texans who had immigrated into the territory from the United States of America.

As a result, these people saw themselves more as American than anything and wanted to build a U.S. style democracy in the new nation of Texas.

The first way they did this was to model their constitution on that of the United States which is why the first Texan Constitution borrowed heavily from the U.S. Constitution.

In conclusion, the Texan constitution was inspired by the U.S. Constitution.

damaskus [11]
Appellate court judges do not re-try cases, and they do not hear new evidence. Rather, they review decisions made by the trial court. They are usually limited to reviewing only the arguments that were made in the trial court and raised by the parties.
