Rectangle:

A = BH
   = (18)(4)
   = 72

Finding area of square:

72 = 2x
/2     /2
36 = x

Finding perimeter of square using area:

P = √a * 4
   = √36 * 4
   = 6 * 4
   = 24

Therefore the perimeter of the square is 24 inches. I am not sure so sorry for any mistakes.

\textit{area of a rectangle}\\\\
A_r=lw\quad
\begin{cases}
l=length\\
w=width\\
l=w=x
\end{cases}\implies A_s=x\cdot x\implies A_s=x^2\\\\
-------------------------------\\\\
A_r=2\cdot  A_s\implies  72=2x^2\implies\cfrac{72}{2}=x^2\implies 36=x^2
\\\\\\
\sqrt{36}=x\implies \boxed{6=x}

the square has 4 sides, thus its perimeter is 6+6+6+6.

Val measures the diameter of a ball as 6 inches. How many cubic inches of air does this ball hold, to the nearest tenth? Use 3.1
7nadin3 [17]

Answer:

The ball holds 113.0 cubic inches of air

Step-by-step explanation:

Firstly we need to know the shape of the ball

A ball is spherical in shape

So to know the number of cubic inches, we have to find the volume of air in the ball

Mathematically, we can do this by finding the volume of the ball using the formula for the volume of a sphere

The formula for the volume of a sphere is ;

V = 4/3 * pi * r^3

in this case, r = d/2 = 6 /2 = 3 inches

where r is the radius of the ball and d is the diameter of the ball

So, substituting these values , we have

V = 4/3 * 3.14 * 3^3 = 113.0 cubic inches
