When prisoners were deported to exterminantion camps in Nazi Germany, many of them were straightaway assassinated in the gas chambers, while some were left alive and oblied to forced labor until death.

In concentration camps, instead of murdering prisoners straightaway using gas chambers, they were all sent to forced labor facilities where they worked until being so exhausted that they died.
