The mean hours of sleep that students get per night is 5 hours, the standard deviation of hours of sleep is 1 hour, and the dist
shepuryov [24]

Answer:

.For about 68% of students, nightly amount of sleep is between __4____and ___6__ hours.For about 95% of students, nightly amount of sleep is between __3____and __7___ hours.For about 99.7% of students, nightly amount of sleep is between ___2___and __8___ hours.

Step-by-step explanation:

The empirical rule tells us that for normal distributions,

68% of data lie within one standard deviation of the mean.

Thus, 68% of data lie within \bar{x} \pm s

⇒ 5 ± 1 = (4, 6) hours

Similarly, 95% of data lie within two standard deviation of the mean.

Thus, 95% of data lie within \bar{x} \pm 2s

⇒ 5 ± 2 = (3, 7) hours

99.7% of data lie within one standard deviation of the mean.

Thus, 99.7% of data lie within \bar{x} \pm s

⇒ 5 ± 3 = (2, 8) hours

1. Clara opens a savings account with $500 and deposits $75 each month thereafter. Write a
Julli [10]

Answer:

y = (75x + 500)

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the linear model,

Let y = monthly balance of the savings

x = months of the savings

With savings account with $500 which is fixed

deposits = $75

Then the model is

y = (75x + 500)

Factor x^4 + xy^3 + x^3 + y^3. Hint, first factor a monomial. Please explain why!!!
almond37 [142]

Pull an x from the first two terms

x(x^3 + y^3) + (x^3 + y^3)   Now x^3 + y^3 is a common factor.

(x^3 + y^3)*(x + 1) That should be far enough. It can be factored further by factoring (x^3 + y^3) but there is no point because you can't do anything after that. But in case you want to know how x^3 + y^3 factors

(x^3 + y^3) = (x + y)(x^2 - xy + y^2)

Which means you could write original polynomial as

(x + y)(x^2 - xy + y^2)(x + 1)

Part B

You factored the x out of xy^3 so that you would have a common factor (x^3 + y^3) to pull out as a common factor for the whole polynomial.
