Hypnosis is a mental state from hypnotism. It is a condition that involves the attention, awareness, and response of a person.

EXPLANATION

Hypnosis refers to a condition where a human is focusing their attention and awareness, also enhancing their capability in responding suggestion. Hypnosis and related phenomena can be explained by several theories.  Using altered state theories, it can be analyzed that hypnosis is a condition with an altered state of mind. This condition is showed by having the level of awareness that is different from the normal state of awareness.

Using other theories, which are the nonstate theories, sees hypnosis as some kind of placebo effect. Hypnosis is a new form of interaction with a therapist or psychologist. Hypnosis can be referred to as a form of imaginative role enactment.

Through the hypnosis process, a person needs to be focused. They need to use full concentration in the process. The person who is in a hypnosis process will show an increase in response to suggestions.  

Hypnosis has several steps in it. It needs preliminary instruction and starts with giving suggestions to a person in a hypnosis process. The act of giving a person therapy is using hypnosis is known as hypnotherapy. Meanwhile, the act of doing a form of hypnosis in front of a wide range of audiences is known as stage hypnosis. This stage hypnosis is usually performed by mentalists as a magic trick.
