Refer to Explorations in Literature for a complete version of the narrative. Near the end of "Goodbye to All That,” Joan Didion

mentions that she got married. She describes the decision as “a very good thing to do but badly timed.” Which evidence from the text emphasizes the fact that her husband understands her and helps her? He advises her on how to build her writing career. He takes her to a doctor. He suggests they leave New York. He convinces her that they should have a baby.

Which lines express desperation in this excerpt from Sir Philip Sidney's Sonnet 1? But words came halting forth, wanting Inventi
svetlana [45]
I would say that the lines which show us how desperate the poet is are the following:
"... helpless in my throes, Biting my truant pen, beating myself for spite--"
As you can see here, the poet says he is helpless, meaning that he cannot find inspiration to write what he wants to write. Therefore he is desperate for some inspiration, which is why he is biting his truant pen in order to show how anxious he is to get his inspiration back.

Are modern critics overcompensating by finding too much value in works by members of marginalized communities?
konstantin123 [22]

Answer:

Certainly not. Though there are a large number of modern critics who are lavishing praise upon praise for works by marginalised authors, that praise is well-justified. Consider that these authors not only had to write a book about their lives, they also had to have the courage to speak up about the prejudice and injustice they faced. Any book by a marginalised author is well-worth the praise for just existing.

Based on the plot structure of "initiation", which sentence would most likely be part of the implied resolution?
KATRIN_1 [288]
Since the sentences are not provided in this question a probable answer will serve to address. "Initiation" is defined as the start or the beginning of something, a commencement of a certain action/behavior. Moreover, initiation here could mean of something that will assess the ability or capacity of the individual before becoming a member of a peer group or certain community.
