D. The slave trade was banned in Washington, D.C.

Explanation:

After the Mexican-American War ended, the United States had a lot more territory to deal with. Slavery was always a huge debate during this time, but now that there were more territories, people started to get nervous about how the new territories would be split up into free and slave states.

The Compromise of 1850 were laws and compromises that set the field for the slavery situation in the new territories. These laws tried to be as fair and unbiased as possible, since slavery was controversial during this time.

With these laws, California was now a free state, the slave trade was now prohibited in Washington, D.C, and Texas lost New Mexico, but got money from the government in the process.

Solve the problems:
larisa [96]

Answer:

0.05 meters

Explanation:

Given that:

Frequency of wave = 6 x 109Hz

Assume the wave travels at the speed of light, V = 3 * 10^8 m/s

The wavelength is related to frequency and speed of wave using the relation ;

v = fλ

λ = speed of wave, V / frequency, f

λ = (3 * 10^8) / (6 * 10^9)

λ = 0.5 * 10^(8 - 9)

λ = 0.5 * 10^-1

λ = 0.05 m = 5cm

How were the situations of free African Americans in the North and the South similar?
aleksklad [387]

Answer:

Even if, as Berlin illustrates in a companion table, 100 percent of the African Americans living in the North were free in 1860 (compared to only 6.2 percent in the South), it still is a puzzle to figure out why the majority lived below the Mason-Dixon Line.
