If the sofa price is $900 more than the price of the chair, then: S=C+900.
If the total for the purchase of sofa and chair is $1200, then S+C=1200.

Use this info to select the correct system of equations. Note: you do not have to solve for S and C.

Solve the system by the substitution method.
2x-y= -24
x+7y= 3
meriva
2x - y = -24
x + 7y = 3

Solve one equation for a variable and plug the resulting value into the second equation.

x + 7y = 3           Subtract 7y from both sides
       x = -7y + 3

Now, plug that x-value into the x of the first equation.

            2x - y = -24   Plug in the x-value
2(-7y + 3) - y = 24     Use the Distributive Property
  -14y + 6 - y = -24     Combine like terms (-14y and -y)
       -15y + 6 = -24     Subtract 6 from both sides
             -15y = -30     Divide both sides by 15
                  y = 2

Next, plug the y-value back into the second equation.

  x + 7y = 3      Plug in the y-value
x + 7(2) = 3     Multiply
   x + 14 = 3     Subtract 14 from both sides
          x = -11

y = 2 and x = -11

At most, Kyle can spend $60 on sandwiches and chips for a picnic. He already bought chips for $10 and will buy sandwiches that c
LekaFEV [45]

Answer:

first off kyle wouldnt go on a picnic OR waste his money on anything other than monster energy so... i dont know what ur talking abt..

no im just kidding If that is the question, then $50 is his maximum. So total cost of sandwiches 4.50s and total cost of chips ($6.00) has to be less than or equal to $50.

4.5s + 6 ≤ 50

s ≈ 9.8 so he can buy at most 9 sandwiches.

*brainlyEst would be nice..
