There were several forms of slavery in Africa like criminal, military and debt slavery. This practice sadly still continues nowadays. In Europe and the US the slaves were sold/bought by the Europeans or Americans, unlike in Africa.

Which house of Congress has the same number of votes no matter what size the state is?
AveGali [126]

Answer:

The Senate

Explanation:

In the Sherman Compromise of 1787, it was decided that the House would have proportional representation, while the Senate would have two senators regardless of the state size.

This compromise was significant in that it determined the bicameral congressional system that we have today.

Prior to the compromise, two plans were proposed:

The New Jersey Plan favored smaller states by proposing equal representation in Congress.

- Smaller States thought they had equal status as a state

On the other hand, the Vlrginia Plan favored more populous states by proposing proportionate representation.

- Larger States thought that it would give citizens of smaller states unfair political influence

Which of the advantages that the Confederacy enjoyed at the beginning of the Civil War was the greatest and provided the largest
guajiro [1.7K]

The main advantage that the South had at the beginning of the war was its large army and well-trained generals. The Confederacy, from this perspective, appeared more capable of winning the war at the beginning of the conflict. Moreover, as most of the fighting was carried out in the South, they also had the advantage of knowing the territory.

I do not think that the South failed to exploit its initial advantages. The Confederacy fought extremely well during the early stages of the war. However, the North's advantages were finally just greater. The South relied on agriculture, which was rendered unviable during the war. Moreover, it had a much smaller population, and its workforce was destroyed after emancipation. All of these put the Confederacy in a particularly difficult position.

In India, the British replaced the ---- Empire.
Mughal
Mauryan
Gupta
Alex73 [517]
The answer is the first one. The British replaced the Mughal empire. The Mughal (or Mogul) Empire ruled most of India and Pakistan in the 16th and 17th centuries. It centralized Islam in South Asia, and spread Muslim (and particularly Persian) arts and culture as well as the faith around their territory. In the last decades of the seventeenth century Aurangzeb invaded the Hindu kingdoms in central and southern India, conquering a lot of the territory and taking many slaves.Under him, the Mughal empire reached the highest point of its military power, but the rule was unstable. This was partly because of the hostility that his intolerance and taxation created in the population, but also because the empire had become too big to be successfully governed. The Muslim Governer of Hydrabad in southern India rebelled and established a separate state; he also reintroduced religious tolerance for the Hindus in the Muslim state. The Hindu kingdoms also fought back, often supported by the French and the British, who utilized them to tighten their grip on the sub-continent.The establishment of a Hindu Marathi Empire in southern India separated the Mughal state to the south. The Mughal city of Calcutta became controlled by the east India company in 1696 and, in the decades that followed, Europeans and European - backed Hindu princes conquered most of the Mughal territory. Aurangzeb's extremism caused Mughal territory and creativity to dry up and the Empire went into decline. The Mughal Emperors that followed Aurangzeb effectively became British or French puppets. The last Mughal Emperor was deposed by the British in 1858.
