Silent mutations are considered as those mutations that occur in the DNA that are said not to have any observable effect on the phenotype of the organism. They are a usually a particular kind of neutral mutation. In some cases, the word silent is replaced with synonymous; however, it is not all synonymous mutations that are considered to be silent, and not all silent mutations are synonymous.
