To find: Breakeven point (in units)
Given: Number of hams sold = 11000
 Sales revenue = $220,000
 Variable cost = $55,000
 Fixed cost = $24,000
Solution: Break-even point (in units) can be calculated as:-
Fixed costs / (sales price per unit-variable costs per unit)
 Fixed costs = $24,000
Sales price per unit = total sales revenue/number of units = 220000/11000 =
$20
 Variable costs per unit = total variable cost/number of units = 55000/11000 = $5
 Putting values in the formula,
 =24000 / (20-5)
 =24000/15
 =1600
Breakeven point (in units) = 1600 units

dezoksy [38]

Answer:

The correct answer for option (a) is $10.96 and for option (b) is 7,128 units.

Explanation:

According to the scenario, the computation of the given data are as follows:

contribution margin ratio = 27%

Variable expense = $8 per unit

Fixed expense = $13,000

(A) We can calculate the selling price as follows:

Contribution margin ratio = 100 % - Variable expense ratio

= 27% = 100% - Variable expense ratio

= Variable expense ratio = 100% - 27% = 73%

So, Selling price = Variable expense  ÷ Variable expense ratio

= $8 ÷ 73%

= $10.96

(b). Profit = $8,100

Contribution margin = Selling price - Variable expense = $10.96 - $8 = $2.96

So. we can calculate the number of units by using following formula:

Number of units required =  (Fixed cost + Profit) ÷ Contribution Margin

= ( $13,000 + $8,100 ) ÷ $2.96

= $21,100 ÷ $2.96

= 7,128.38 units

Tomtit [17]

Answer: $503,200

Explanation:

Carrying value of note = Face value of note - Interest remaining

Interest remaining = Face value * Periodic interest rate * Number of months remaining / Total number of months for note

= 510,000 * 8%/2 * 2 / 6 months

= $6,800

Carrying value of note = 510,000 - 6,800

= $503,200

<em>Note: Note is for 6 months so periodic interest was divided by 2 to make it a semi-annual rate.</em>
