The correct answer is A. The play on words creates a light-hearted mood as Romeo teasingly compares Mercutio to a goose.

It is clear that Romeo doesn't actually think that Mercurio is an actual goose, but he refers to him as a goose when he says, "Nay, good goose, bite not." Based on their wordplay, we can tell that they are simply joking and are not angry with one another.
