What was most likely the author’s immediate purpose in writing what to the slave is the fourth of july?""
Nuetrik [128]

Answer:

To persuade readers about the unjust treatment of the African Americans.

Explanation:

"What to the Slaves is the Fourth of July?" is a speech given by Frederick Douglass on the occasion of July 5th, 1852 in Rochester, New York. In it, he emphasized on the American independence celebration which grips the whole nation but the African American community (slaves) did not actually have a cause for celebration. They are still chained and bounded to their initial status and have not experienced any form of freedom.

Douglass was also a former slave but earned his freedom and got an education, later becoming an abolitionist and worked for the freedom of his people. He delivered this speech during the Rochester Ladies' Anti-Slavery Society's meeting. In it, he called upon the injustice that the slaves are facing, while the nation is celebrating "its" freedom. Though the label "nation" includes each and everyone living in the country, and that that freedom is for all, the slaves are still bounded to their position and no one seems to care. His anti-slavery speech became one of the most important works for the abolitionist, including his autobiography. To him, it is ironic that America is celebrating her independence from being under the colonialist rule of Britain, a form of slavery but at the same time, still kept slaves themselves. The slavery system that was still prevalent and in practice even after the independence was what made him question the American people. The one reason/ purpose he most likely wrote this speech was to persuade the readers (audience) about the unjust treatment of the African Americans.

What seems to be the main arguments by reformers? What is their main weapon against the Catholic Church? What technology aided t
JulsSmile [24]

The main arguments of the reformers come from a free and personal interpretation of the Bible.

The Protestants noticed the excesses of Catholic traditions. Martin Luther (1483-1546) in Germany and Jean Calvin (1509-1564) in France rejected the authority of the Church, which defines itself as the sole interpreter of the divine faith.

The pillars of Protestantism are expressed by the solae:

- The Bible is the supreme authority.

- Salvation is obtained by faith alone

Salvation is not the result of effort or merit.

- Jesus is the only mediator between men and God (rejection of papal authority)

- God is the only one to worship.

Luther found among some German princes support and protection to divulge his ideas. They also harbored grudges against the pope and the high clergy. Luther undertook to translate the Bible into German and the Reformation spread among the German principalities.

In England, Henry VIII proclaims himself "Supreme Head of the Church and Clergy" and breaks all diplomatic relations with Rome. In this situation of weakness of the Catholic Church, the Reform is spreading in Europe

The invention of printing by Gutenberg in 1450 allowed the transmission of new ideas and knowledge not only among scholars, but also among traders and artisans. Printing is the vector that will allow the exchange of new ideas.

What african tribe brought iron technology across africa
mart [117]
"From the mid-1970s there were new claims for the independent invention of iron smelting on central Niger and from 1994–1999 UNESCO funded an initiative "Les Routes du Fer en Afrique/The Iron Routes in Africa" to investigate the origins and spread of iron metallurgy in Africa. This funded both the conference on the early iron in Africa and the Mediterranean and a volume, published by UNESCO, that has generated much controversy because it included only authors sympathetic to the view that iron was independently invented in Africa. Two major reviews of the evidence were published in the mid-2000s. Both authors concluded that there were major technical flaws in each of the studies claiming the independent invention. Three major issues were identified. The first was whether the material dated by radiocarbon was insecure archaeological association with iron-working residues. (Many of the dates from Niger, for example, were on organic matter in potsherds that were lying on the ground surface together with iron objects). The second issue is the possible effect of "old carbon" - wood or charcoal much older than the time at which iron was smelted. This is a particular problem in Niger, where the charred stumps of ancient trees are a potential source of charcoal and have sometimes been misidentified as smelting furnaces. A third issue is the inherent lack of precision of the radiocarbon method itself in the range from 800 to 400 BC, which is attributable to the irregular production of radiocarbon in the upper atmosphere. Unfortunately, most radiocarbon dates for the initial spread of iron metallurgy in sub-Saharan Africa fall within this range."
