Missing links, or more properly termed, “transitional fossils,” have been discovered and continue to add to humankind’s knowledge of evolutionary changes. The term “missing link” belongs to the old concept of the Great Chain of Being, which holds that simple organisms are primitive versions of complex ones. This was already questioned by scientists with newer theories, an example of which is the theory of Punctuated Equilibrium, in which evolution is characterized by long periods of genetic stability with short periods of rapid evolution in between.

Which statements best describe these two minerals? Select 3 choices.
Misha Larkins [42]

Answer:

The statements that best describe the minerals shown in the picture are as below:

 • The "mineral on the right" formed from magma.
 • The "mineral on the left" has "larger crystals" than the mineral on the right.
 • The mineral on the left "cooled more slowly" than the mineral on the right.

Explanation:

 • Magma is nothing but unerupted lava. Thus, the mineral on the right can be said to have formed from magma.
 • It is apparent that the mineral on the left has larger crystals than the mineral on the right.
 • The size of the crystals in the mineral on the left proves that the mineral on the left got more time to cool down which resulted in the formation of larger crystals.
