What did chamberlain claim England should do while pursuing the policy of appeasement
ikadub [295]
Neville Chamberlain was the Prime Minister of England from 1937-1940. Chamberlain is infamous for 'appeasing' to Germany's demands to restructure itself after paying its immense reparations for the first World War I. A large reason that he appeased to Germany's desire to revamp its military, economy, and expand its territory was so that he may focus on England's domestic affairs. Notably, he passed several acts and laws for the middle class, one giving workers a week off with pay (Holiday with Pay Act 1938), as well as passing the Factory's Act of 1937 which greatly helped working conditions for women and children and limiting hours of work. While he primarily wanted to focus on domestic affairs, his appeasement policy immensely backfired when Germany's power skyrocketed by the end of the 1930's.

List and explain the Spanish government’s reasons for approving Moses Austin’s plan for a settlement in Texas.
Korvikt [17]
In 1820, he traveled to San Antonio, where the Baron de Bastrop convinced the Spanish governor to approve Austin's plan. Austin soon received a land grant in what is now the state of Texas. Hoping to recover from bankruptcy with a bold scheme of colonization, Moses Austin meets with Spanish authorities in San Antonio to ask permission for 300 Anglo-American families to settle in Texas. Unfortunately, the economic collapse following the War of 1812 destroyed the lead market and left him bankrupt.

What was the main purpose of the Sugar Act of 1764?
ExtremeBDS [4]

Answer:

The main purpose of the Sugar Act of 1764 was to raise taxes on sugar.

Explanation:

The Sugar Act was sanctioned on April 5, 1764 by the English Parliament. This law replaced the Molasses Act by halving the taxes levied on molasses, but by imposing new additional taxes on sugar, and aimed at an end to smuggling and to protect English farmers based in the West Indies and for the government to win more money on sugar, which was indispensable at this time. It taxed the sugar that entered the United States of America and was not bought from the English Antilles.

The aim of the sugar law was to encourage settlers to consume only sugar directly from the English. It raised the taxes that settlers had to pay on molasses, wine, coffee, silk, white clothes, luxury goods, and linen in their ports.
