The Montgomery Bus Boycott was the result of a series of segregation actions in the city of Montgomery, Alabama en 1955-56. On March 2, 1955, a fifteen-year-old girl named Claudette Colvin was arrested for not giving her seat to a white passenger in a bus. Other incidents such as the arrest of Mary Louise Smith and Rosa Parks followed and the Montgomery Improvement Association (MIA) was created. Martin Luther King was elected President. On March 19, 1956, Dr. King is arrested because he was the boycott’s leader. He is fined $500.- to be released.
