I was in the National Forest with my camera. The day was crisp, and the leaves were turning gold and red. When I spotted the whi

te-tailed buck, I froze. He wasn't more than 15 yards from where I was standing. The wind must have been right, because he kept on browsing the mossy ground. I lifted my camera very slowly. Carefully, holding my breath, I lifted the camera to my eye. Turning the focus ring, I framed the deer's head. Just as I was ready to press the shutter release, the buck raised his head. He was looking my way with wide eyes. Click. I took the picture. An instant later, the deer bounded away into the forest. He took off, but I had the shot. Today, the framed photo of that buck hangs above our fireplace.

From this passage, I can infer that the season is fall. This is because the passage mentions a crisp day and "leaves were turning gold and red". This phenomenon usually only occurs in the autumn. To further prove the point, the deer was a buck, meaning he was probably born sometime in the spring or summer, giving him time to grow up. I hope this is what you need! :D

Which three parts of this excerpt from Mark Twain's "The £1,000,000 Bank-Note" contain hyperbole?
PSYCHO15rus [73]

There are three hyperboles in this excerpt from "The £1,000,000 Bank-Note":

 • "They'll flock in droves". Here the word flock used as a verb means to gather together as a flock (word used to refer to a group of animals, specially birds). Therefore, the phrase is an hyperbole because it contrasts the idea of "a group of animals in a rush" to refer to "these rich Londoners" so as to cause a sense of exaggeration.
 • "I'm a made man forever". The use of the word "forever" here is used to add emphasis to the fact that the character will be a made man as long as he lives: everyone knows nothing lasts forever.
 • "In less than twenty-four hours London was abuzz!". Here the phrase "less than twenty-four hours" is employed to highlight how fast it took the rich Londoners to hear about the mine selling.

Highlight evidence of magic realism.
Anna71 [15]

Answer: "Her husband emerges from the light and comes toward her, taller than the palms, walking on water"

Explanation:

Magical Realism refers to the amalgamation of magical as well as realistic elements into a story. Essentially, reality is explained by magical or fantastic concepts meaning the story is neither completely fantasy neither is it completely real.

Evidence of Magic Realism in the above is,

"Her husband emerges from the light and comes toward her, taller than the palms, walking on water"

The is magic realism because her late husband Jorge, appearing from a beam of light is not realistic but supernatural yet it happened to her as she sat on her porch.

How does the text feature help the reader understand
Delvig [45]

Answer:

B). It breaks down Livingstone's journey into stages and labels them.

Explanation:

Text features are elucidated as the components(headings, captions, sidebars, bold print, labeling, etc.) apart from the main text that primarily intends to amplify the readers' experiences while reading.

As per the question, the text features provided in Stewart Ross' 'The Unknown' divides 'Livingstone's journey into different stages' that assists the readers' to understand the information more clearly and effectively while the 'labeling' of these phases helps them in perceiving it cohesively. Thus, these features visually aids and directs the readers to identify and experience the text more impactfully. Therefore, option B is the correct answer.
