A large portion of Americans thought that this was not right to be sending over our own people to a place halfway across the globe, to a issue that would not affect us in the the near future. And that this was no ordinary war fought in large open plains. No it was fought in the woods and more. And then american people were dying for a cause that didn't concern them?
During World War I, many African Americans living in the South moved to northern cities primarily because "<span>(1) more workers were needed in industry" in the north, which was friendlier to blacks as well. </span>
Back then , African American citizen were heavily discriminated by society.
For example, they did not allowed to enter the 'white folks' ' Restaurants. They don't even allowed to enter a same public restrooms as them.
They also doesn't count as citizen and not allowed to vote.
It kept European powers out of Latin America and prevented them from further colonizing the area
