I really need help here ASAP
AlexFokin [52]

Answer:

D. x=\frac{-4-\sqrt{31}}{3} or  x=\frac{-4+\sqrt{31}}{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

The given equation is:

3x^2+8x=5

Divide through by 3;

x^2+\frac{8}{3}x=\frac{5}{3}

Add the square of half the coefficient of x to both sides.

x^2+\frac{8}{3}x+(\frac{4}{3})^2=\frac{5}{3}++(\frac{4}{3})^2

x^2+\frac{8}{3}x+\frac{16}{9}=\frac{5}{3}+\frac{16}{9}

The left hand side is now a perfect square:

(x+\frac{4}{3})^2=\frac{31}{9}

Take square root

x+\frac{4}{3}=\pm \sqrt{ \frac{31}{9}}

x=-\frac{4}{3}\pm \sqrt{ \frac{31}{9}}

x=-\frac{4}{3}\pm \frac{\sqrt{31}}{3}

D. x=\frac{-4-\sqrt{31}}{3} or  x=\frac{-4+\sqrt{31}}{3}

Find the coordinates of the circle and the radius y²+2x+x²-24y= -120
riadik2000 [5.3K]
We know that
the equation of a circle is
(x-h+(y-k)²=r²
where (k,k)----> is the center
and
r----> is the radius
y²+2x+x²-24y= -120

Group terms that contain the same variable
 (y²-24y)+(x²+2x)=-120

Complete the square twice. Remember to balance the equation by adding the same constants to each side
 (y²-24y+144)+(x²+2x+1)=-120+144+1

<span>Rewrite as perfect squares</span>

(y-12)²+(x+1)²=25

(x+1)²+(y-12)²=5²

the answer is
the coordinates of the center are (-1,12)
the radius is 5 units

In the figure, use similar triangles and the fact that corresponding sides are proportional to find the missing length.
Phoenix [80]

Answer:

  • <u><em>The missing length, x, is equal to 7 m.</em></u>

Explanation:

In the figure, the two triangles are similar because they show two pairs of congruent angles and one pair of different sides.

  • The two upper vertices are marked each with a line which indicates that they are congruent, i.e. they have the same measure.

  • Also, the small squares shown in each of the bases indicate that those two angles are right, i.e. they measure 90°.

  • Since the two sides adjacent to the right angles have different lengths, the triangles are not congruent but similar.

By similarity, you can state that the corresponding parts keep the same ratio. Thus:

  • x / 8m = 21m / 24m

  • x = 8m × 21 m / 24 m (muliply both sides by 8m)

  • x = 21 m / 3 (simplify dividing numerator and denominator by 8m)

  • x = 7 m (simplify dividing by 3)

         Answer x = 7 m

The ares of a rectangle is 46 square inches, if the length is 4 times the width , the find the dimensions of the rectangle.
kiruha [24]

Answer:

\sqrt{11.5} =w (Width)

4\sqrt{11.5}= Length

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of a rectangle: 46 = w(L)

L = 4w

Substitute

46 = 4w^{2}

Divide both by 4

11.5=w^{2}

\sqrt{11.5} =w (Width)

4\sqrt{11.5}= Length
