Eugen Talmadge (1884-1946) was a controversial Governor of Georgia from 1948 to 1955. During his tenure, he lowered the price of car tags although the legislation opposed to the decision. He appointed a new Public Service Commission just to lower utility rates. He appointed martial law when the Highway Board did not want the Governor to control it.
